FCCN Sunday Service Preview - "The Spirit of Pentecost"

June 4, 2017
"And suddenly a sound came from heaven like the rush of a mighty wind."
Acts 2:2

Dear Friends,
What would you say is the most important event in human history? It would have to be Easter as Easter changed everything. What would you say is the second most important event in human history? It would have to be Pentecost, the birthday of the church. It was at the first Pentecost that the church was empowered by the Holy Spirit and from that empowerment, the apostles began to act with their own sense of empowerment.  Celebrating Pentecost can pass right past us without much notice, yet how different the world would be if Pentecost had never happened. Acts 2 tells of the remarkable event of the giving of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost.  Chapters 3 and 4 describe the empowerment of the apostles when the Holy Spirit is given.  Such power is available to the church today.

Easter Sunday Services: 8:00 & 10:00 AM

April 16, 2017

"Now on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene come to the tomb early, while it was still dark, and saw that the stone had been rolled away. So she ran to tell Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved,They have taken the Lord out of the tomb and we do not know where they laid him."  John: 20: 1-2.

Dear Friends,

Easter is the centerpiece of the Christian faith. Without Easter Christmas would have no meaning.  Or as the Apostle Paul said, "If Christ has not been raised from the dead, then our preaching is in vain a  nd your faith is in vain." I Corinthians 15: 14.

FCCN Sunday Service Preview - "Palm Sunday"

April 9, 2017

Dear Friends,

As Jesus rode into Jerusalem on the First Day of Passover, throngs fill the streets and waved palm branches, welcoming the new king who would restore the kingdom of David. They sang "Hosanna, blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord."  As the week progressed, the sounds of joy and adulation were silenced and replaced by shouts of hate and anger.  Such is life...here is a paradigm for life.  When we are not delive  red as we had hoped for, we tend to cease the cheering and sometimes even abandon our faith. We want God to change the circumstances, rather than to change us within the circumstances. Palm Sunday can truly be didactic, not only as a prelude to Easter, but for life itself.

FCCN Sunday Service Preview - "The 3-M's: Madness, Masters, Master"

April 2, 2017

The ending of March and beginning of April mark two enormous events in the sporting world.....that of March Madness and The Masters....these two sporting events can truly be instructive in terms of living a Christian life. It is obvious that the Apostle Paul was knowledgeable of the sporting events of his day. On numerous occasions he used athletics to set forth parabolically the truths concerning the greater game of life.  Both March Madness and the Masters have these not-to-miss parables, but I would like to focus on parables found in golf, including: The Golfer's Course, The Golfer's Choice,The Golfer's Caddie, and the Golfer's Card.  I look forward to sharing these 3M parables as they are most instructive.

FCCN Sunday Service Preview - "From Stumbling Blocks to Stepping Stones"

Has Life Given You Some Stumbling Blocks?

  • Hurt?
  • Disappointment?
  • Illness?
  • Grief?
  • Unexpected Crosses?
  • Trials?

March 26, 2017

Dear Friends,

Would you say "Life sometimes throws you a curve?"   ..You know: Something you were not expecting, didn't deserve, and now you are faced with it. What do you do with this Stumbling Block?  Do you allow it to shape your life in a direction you did not intend?  Or are you able to use the Stumbling Block to become a Stepping Stone?  It often becomes a matter or overcoming adversity and even using adversity to enable you to become a better person.  It is also a matter of faith, allowing God to use these unexpected crosses as Turning Points.  I look forward to seeing you on Sunday as we together explore these thoughts about our walk with Him.
