FCCN Sunday Service Preview - "Sheer Silence"

August 6, 2017

11 He said, "Go out and stand on the mountain before the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by." Now there was a great wind, so strong that it was splitting mountains and breaking rocks in pieces before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake; 12 and after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire a sound of sheer silence. 13 When Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his mantle and went out and stood at the entrance of the cave. Then there came a voice to him that said, "What are you doing here, Elijah?" (1 Kings 19:11-13)

FCCN Sunday Service Preview - "Finding the Pearls of Life"

July 30, 2017

"The Kingdom of Heaven is like a treasure hidden in a field in which a man found."  ~Matthew 13: 44.

Dear Friends,
There are some things in life you cannot put a price on, things that are ours for which we may take for granted, things like beauty, health, family, art, a sound mind....That is exactly the point of the parable found in Matthew 13: 44-52.  These are blessings!  They are gifts that make the heart sing!  Yet we sometimes overlook them.  The parable is about the Kingdom of God which is present, which offers a very special relationship with God,  and which is a pale reflection of God's eternal kingdom in the life that is to come. The importance of the parable is that if we miss the kingdom, we miss everything.

FCCN Sunday Service Preview - "The Spirit of Pentecost"

June 4, 2017
"And suddenly a sound came from heaven like the rush of a mighty wind."
Acts 2:2

Dear Friends,
What would you say is the most important event in human history? It would have to be Easter as Easter changed everything. What would you say is the second most important event in human history? It would have to be Pentecost, the birthday of the church. It was at the first Pentecost that the church was empowered by the Holy Spirit and from that empowerment, the apostles began to act with their own sense of empowerment.  Celebrating Pentecost can pass right past us without much notice, yet how different the world would be if Pentecost had never happened. Acts 2 tells of the remarkable event of the giving of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost.  Chapters 3 and 4 describe the empowerment of the apostles when the Holy Spirit is given.  Such power is available to the church today.
