We can believe that Jesus is in the situation with us, even though it sometimes feels like He is sleeping through the storm; we can be sure He is able to calm the storm with His eternal words: Peace Be Still."
FCCN Sunday Service Preview - "The Daring Adventure of Faith"
August 5, 2018,
"Life is either a daring adventure or its nothing at all," are words from Helen Keller. As we think about life, we find these words ring true. The story of Jesus walking on the water and Peter's emulating Jesus, only to sink in the waves is a teaching moment about the storms of life and the importance of keeping our eyes on Jesus, regardless of the circumstances in which we find ourselves. How often do you face a storm, one which can overwhelm you and you feel as though you are sinking. WE can discover what Peter discovered, that as we keep our eyes on Jesus, we can overcome the storms. Just the opposite is true when we take our eyes off him. In the story found in Matthew 14: 22-33, we find that Peter did not impetuously jump into the water; he was invited to come to Jesus who was some distance from the boat. The didactic here is that in the storms of life, Jesus always asks us to come to him in the midst of the storms of life. What storm are you facing today?
