FCCN Sunday Service Preview - "The Emmaus Road....A Paradigm for Life"
April 15, 2018,
"Did not our hearts burn within us on the road when he opened to us the scriptures?" Luke: 24:32
The account of Jesus' appearance to the two disciples on the Road to Emmaus is most didactic in terms of what it can teach us about the meaning of the resurrection and how it affects our lives today. While the resurrection is a message about Jesus' triumph over death and the grave, it is also a message about its implications for the here and now.
We are often like the two disciples: 1) We forget his promises; 2) We forget the sequences of things in life of which he spoke; 3) Heartburn out of joy can be a blessing; 4) Doing good to someone we may not even know can be one of life's greatest blessings; 5) Jesus opens our eyes to new possibilities; 6) He is always walking with us, even when we are unaware of his presence.
