FCCN Sunday Service Preview - "A Presence, A Power, A Purpose"
March 17, 2019
Sunday is a very special Sunday in that it is the Second Sunday of Lent, but also St.Patrick's Day. We are thus celebrating both by focusing on Jesus' journey to Jerusalem where he would suffer in the crucifixion, but also we are remembering St. Patrick, the Patron Saint of Ireland. On the way to Jerusalem, Jesus stops by the village of Bethany where he finds Mary and Martha most distressed as their brother, Lazarus has died. He comforts them by showing such great compassion, even weeping at their distress. But he goes a step further in that he raises Lazarus from the dead. Sunday is also a day to remember St. Patrick, a fifth century monk.. His day always falls on the 17th day of March as that was the day of his martyrdom for the cause of his faith. St. Patrick was actually born in England and became a missionary to take the gospel to the Irish. For the service on Sunday, we will have some Irish music which I know you will enjoy and appreciate.
