FCCN Sunday Service Preview - "So What's So Great about Christmas?"
December 10, 2017
"Though He was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men, the humbled himself and became obedient even unto death." Philippians 2: 6-7
When we ask the question, "What's so great about Christmas?", the answer is rather obvious. It is the centerpiece of history. It is the event, along with Easter, that changed the world from a world of darkness to a world of light. It did, however, happen in a very remote little town in Judea. The great thing about Christmas is that God became a man and shared the life we know. He was born like us. He grew up like us. He was tempted like us. He suffered like us. But He came with a purpose, that being that he would suffer for the world. As is stated in Philippians 2:8, "He humbled himself and became obedient even unto death, even death on a cross." The result of Christmas is that Jesus is Lord. In the words of the Hallelujah Chorus, He is "King of Kings and Lord of Lords."
